Sales Manager, Pearson Language Tests
Description
Pearson Language Tests (PLT) is embarking on the launch of a number of new initiatives and product developments. This requires building a network of Sales Managers around the world in the regions that have large numbers of English language test takers
Purpose of the role:
The Sales Manager (Middle East & Pakistan) will be responsible for all in-country activities related to the commercialisation of PLT products and services in the Area. S/he will work in her/his geography to build key relationships in the Education market, to engage with the ELT community to maximise delivery of candidate volumes, to locally implement global marketing and learning resource strategies and as well to be an escalation point for candidate and customer service issues.
The Sales Manager will be expected to look for opportunities at the strategic and the tactical level and negotiate key relationships with professional partners to ensure promotion and referral of candidates to the PLT’s portfolio of tests. S/he will also define and execute joint marketing activities in collaboration with the local Pearson Education sister companies. S/he will also work with Pearson VUE to ensure sufficient testing channel capacity to manage current and future volumes.
Key Accountabilities:
•Determine and implement in-country strategies to maximise PLT opportunities on all tests and services
•Understand and document local market strategies, pricing policies, potential market segments, channel requirements and competitors position
•Feed local market requirements and product feedback to marketing, test development, service delivery and product management teams in London.
•Develop strategic partnerships with country stakeholders including universities, governments, language schools, agents, career advisors, teachers and parents
•Drive candidate volumes through localised sales and marketing campaigns.
•Act as an area representative for PLT generally ensuring that high standards are met in delivery and service of our test. This may include escalating candidate complaints; auditing our delivery channel for quality and security or identifying new testing locations.
•Build relationships with local Pearson entities to support marketing and sales activities
•Act as a local link to test centres ensuring high standards
•Locally implement global learning resource plans including translation, printing and production when appropriate
•Locally implement global marketing plan including translations, conferences, student events, local surveys and training activities
Key outputs:
•Secure agreed annual volumes of test takers and revenues.
•Secure agreed annual number of recognitions from education institutions
•Sign up agreed number of professional partners
•Provide regular reporting keeping management appraised of performance versus plan
•Establish relationships with institutions in the territory
•Participate in ELT forums and events
•Develop working relationships with key Pearson Education staff in the region
Key challenges:
•Working in a start up business unit of an established company
•Working remotely from PLT management and infrastructure.
•Having to self motivate and self-start
•Managing cross borders with managers from other countries
•Working with English learners of different language backgrounds
•Working with different internal and external stakeholders and positively influencing them
•Working in a fast paced environment
•Thinking independently to ensure PLT’s recommendations are country and customer targeted
Essential Skills
•Post-graduate degree required or equivalent
•5 years relevant experience gained in the education market
•Must have a strong commercial outlook and be able to see opportunities for online and offline learning and testing products
•Experience of negotiating partnership type deals at a senior level
•Able to build good working relationships locally and cross culturally
•Have ability to empathise and understand those learning and teaching English
•Must have a real enthusiasm, understanding and passion for English Language Testing
•Must be able to research the market, analyse data and present results
•Highly developed oral, written and presentational skills in English
•Proven ability to document, plan and project manage the product details
•Can think strategically about resources and the market
•Must be able to self motivate and work independently
Preferred Skills
•International/multicultural experience will be a plus
Based in Dubai. Regular international travel to key countries in the Area will be required.
Some extended working may be necessary at peak times and to cater for product launches and time zone constraints.
